    [curious look]
What on earth has the price of petrol got to do with chain design Nev? (or
    is that Hammo?)

I notice that they describe them as "bright and durable". I'd be more
    interested in "grip" myself.

What has the number of moving parts got to do with the brilliance of the
    design?
As Cam pointed out, you don't have to clean and lubricate them at all if
    you don't want to.

It's a major factor in every instance I can think of. (Although
pool-cleaners are the only things I can readily recall that actually say
"with fewer moving parts" as a selling point.)
Can you come up with any that reckon "with more moving parts" is an
    advantage?
You don't HAVE to do anything you don't want to Nev.

Just restricting my response to my limited knowledge of motorcycles
(which is slightly more extensive than my extremely limited knowledge of
pool cleaners)... double overhead cam, 4 or 5 valves per cylinder, dual
balance shafts and I presume that Yamaha's EXUP system involved at least
one moving part so I'll throw that in as well. I'm sure there are more.

Good one; why don't you add "4cyl engines produce more power than singles"
too? (Ane two-wheel bikes are better than one)
Besides; gear-driven cams beat chain-driven (and the even-fewer-moving-parts
pneumatic cams beat both) so you're back to square one.

Gee, you're hard to please. Did you have an alternative answer to your
own question which did not involve any examples of product designs with
more moving parts being claimed to be advantageous that I should have used?

I'm not too sure how many people WANT to pay taxes Clem, but have you
    tried to stop paying them?

What if the cams are contra rotating?

I think it's the shaft driven cams you're thinking of..

No; did you have an answer to why you introduced petrol-prices to a
    discussion about chain design?

You can do it easy Steve (and many people have!)
Personally I'm not prepared to weather the consequences though ....

Ergo, ducatis can't wheelie - so the ones I've seen must have been
    photoshopped!
