Mines run out and I want to ride it even though it's cold and horrid out.

I don't think it's got any problems except a left hand mirror that
    doesn't point backwards above 40mph.

what's the check for mirrors? Is "present" enough? If not, given that the
odd metal bit at the bottom says "do not dismantle" in the owners book
and even dismantling it despite that instruction hasn't stopped it
spinning round, what's a good way to stop it spinning? Is a liberal
coating of gaffer tape OK for an MOT tester?

    Ta.

**** off with your on-topic questions. Haven't you got an OS problem or
    TV/hi-fi query?

If the mirror is fitted it must be functional and secure, but there's
nothing in the MOT testers manual that states that mirrors must be
fitted and tested - however, the Construction and Use of Vehicles
Regulations (1986) states that mirrors must be fitted, so the choice is
yours. You can remove the wobbly one and have it MOT'd with just the
right one, or take both off and run the risk of a pull from Old Bill.

On my Bandit I secured the mirrors to the MX style handguards with gurt
long cable ties to stop them folding inwards at speed.

Just remove it. Mirrors aren't tested.

There'll be a line in mirror.ini referencing orientation, probably
    'orientation 0' Just replace with:

    '<40 orientation 0
and you should be fine. Don't sit at a steady 40 though.

Or run a Linux install, your choice which, it doesn't matter really.
/etc/mirror.conf gives a much greater degree of control, although the
default installation files pretty much work out of the box. Bill Gates hid
a lot of the instrumentation config in the bloatware
'HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG.observation' hierarchy, which is mostly undocumented
and inaccessible when you're caught at the side of the road without regedit
in your toolkit. All *nix bikers should have a copy of vi in their
    seatpack obviously.

I'm normally too busy to be funny. But after ploughing through my 2008
budget until 1.30am last night, I had a moment of release.
