Well its been stood for about 18 months I guess. 12 of those in the
garage, 6 outside in the elements.

All I did pre MOT was take it round the block, topped up its fluids and
    made sure the lights work.

Failed on exhaust (original in garage, 5 mins to change)
Headlight aim (thinks of the garage thread :)
    Front brakes juddering.

The last one had me thinking in pound signs, lots of them. Tester
suggested stripping the front brakes down and sanding the discs and
pads and putting them back together again, which *could* work or could
    make them worse.

As I was leaving he did mention "of course after a couple of long rides
the problem will most likely sort itself out, but of course you can't
    cause you've no MOT"

But, I can legally ride it to the MOT station and back (it was booked
in), so thats what I did. Only I got a bit lost see? 30 miles of lost
actually. Anyway, the notchiness has gone now.

Half an hour to do the other two things and I'll wander back down there.

I do like the Vstrom they've got in Mission at the moment too.

    frag scribbled:
After I had a tweek at home, took it back and they were both a little
high so he adjusted them for me whilst I sat on the bike. A *proper*
garage with *decent* service offered :)
Still show a little bit of variation on his braking meter but he says
that'll disappear with use and he let it pass.

So thats one new ticket, 3pF&T through Bennets for £141, and tax to get
when the ins docs come through.

    Braking *meter* ?

The place I use just puts the brakes on, compresses the forks and waves
    it through :)

Mind you, it's gone all pooterised now hasn't it ..

    Cheers

    Paul.

Even the bike workshop out in the middle of nowhere down here is having
it's computer fitted this week. I'm now especially gutted I didn't get
the MZ there today - it means I have to endure the computerised test
    next time.

I thought that the place I use was a bit out of date - he gets you to
sit on the bike whist he winds up a cable that is attached to a meter
on the wall [and to the bike, natch].

Now they are all compootered it's a lot stricter - you have to weigh
the front and rear of the bike, and have a "rough estimate" of the
    riders weight as well.

They're Brembo P8 copies and the bike weighs next to **** all, it'll pass
    no problem.

Although the rolling road test does show up warped disks if not done
    'sympathetically'.
