I had to Google for that. Must be the generation gap.

Nah - he's very English. I thought you might get the reference to a
    blimp, however.

My guess is that the rider had lofted the chair a long way before the
left hander the photo was taken on and he'd be putting it back on the
    deck before the right hander.

Oddly enough I'm quite happy that I'll not be taking an outfit to this
years Elefant and though the Tenere is fucking heavy now I've packed
everything into the boxes I'm sure it'll be less of a beast to ride
than the BMW was with a chair bolted onto it.

Indeed. Looks like a wing or similar with a fairly lightweight chair. It
probably needs little provocation to pop up if not occupied.
A pity you never got to have a go on the Mille/RS3. I think you would
have go on with it much better.

    It is - a GL1500.

Pilot's probably wondering where the trailer's got to ...

    That's just a technicality.

I always manage to just about squeeze in everything I want to take
whether I use the 10R or the outfit and this time is no different.
I've got the panniers and top box filled to capacity plus I've got the
tent, tankbag and a small waterproof bag full of clothes on there.
**** knows what I'd chuck out if it didn't fit but I'm sure I'd manage
to condense it if I had to.

I'd get more in if I used my throwover panniers rather than the hard
ones but the beauty of using hard panniers is that I can load them
with stuff I don't need until I get to the actual rally and not worry
about it whereas with soft panniers I'd have to unload it all when we
    stop on the way.

This makes me think of one holidays in the Alps (on a car). A fast beemer
with a sidecar passed me in a straight. As we were approaching the curve at
the end I thought "he can't go *that* fast round the corner on a sidecar".

He reached the end of the straight.

Then both bike and sidecar *leant*, and fucked off sharply.

    WANTS.

Probably was one of these. If ever fitted to one of yer shite olde beemers I
can come round wit plenty of wino in echange of a test ride.

To be noted: Front wheel seems not to suffer any modification...

    WANTS MORE.

I saw one of those round here (Gloucester way) a few years ago. Haven't seen
it since but I did think it looked good at the time.

    (snip)
I've only seen it featured in an article in the Nov 2003 issue of the UK
BMW Club Journal - and agree with the expressed views that this is _the_
logical development of the sidecar concept. It even has a locking lever
to arrest the "flexing", so it doesn't fall over when at low speeds or
    stationary.

Never seen a Flexit in real life, and would like to join you in the
queue for a test ride of such an outfit.
Well all three tyres should have a round profile for it to work.

"And whenever I want to go solo it's a simple matter of undoing three
bolts, disconnecing the elctric block contact and the hydraulic brake
    connector . . . under ten minutes . . . " :))

It will be one of these
    www.armec.ch/start.asp

I had comms with them last year, I'd like to build a leaning outfit. The
cost wasn't prohibitive, some £3100. Sadly they don't produce a kit for any
bike I would want to use.
