It would appear that the Moto GP bikes are to be restricted to make them safer. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/4701657.stm How long before racing is completely sanitised? -- Martin: "For a minute there, you bored me to death." The safety link seems to come from something Rossi says, almost as an afterthought, could it be that they're reducing the four+ cylinder capacity to give the twins a chance? I don't know this, of course, so wibble.
On Sun, 24 Jul 2005 09:46:56 +0100, "sweller" This is MotoGP not Superbikes so the 4 cylinder vs Twin debate isn't relevant as most bikes are 4's or V5. V6 arriving shortly from Blata! I think it is a safety issue but one led in part by bike development outstripping tyre development. Michelin who haven't actually had any tyre safety issues have gone on record saying at the current rate of development the bikes will be simply too much for the tyres for a single race distance. Personnaly I don't see a capacity reduction as a step backwards at all.
