Faaaaaark! betty
I thought that we were talking about the lovely Betty, not Graham Kennedy. However, I am an old gaseous excreter and may be easily confused. john Dwyer.
What a ripper eh? I loved Elias' leap into action and then run three paces and trip over his own feet again!! All three races were beauties! (I did shit in the tipping comp though)
Do not either! Inappropriate classroom language is a bit of a sore point at the moment, actually, as a certain class of large, supposedly adult young 'men' tests the boundaries. They WILL be sorry. What a nail-biter of a race though! I think I held my breath for about the last two laps! betty
In aus.motorcycles on Mon, 3 May 2010 18:46:37 +1000 I've heard some say school is the problem. Or more accurately that young men don't spend time being socialised by much older men anymore so the "don't swear in front of women" isn't being passed on by people they want to emulate. Which can cause them problems at work in a white collar job, as learning to stop casual swearing can be a problem! Zebee
Which is why I would be hopeless as a teacher. I have a potty mouth and can't stand trying to explain things to people who can't keep up with me. Training people in my industry who are new to the job just frustrates me. Respect to people who can. Kev
I sympathise with the sentiment. However, my observations are that the modern young woman's discourse is lucid, forthright and may well be punctuated by some hard swearing. And my further observations are that this is not necessarily restricted to younger women. Where does that leave us? By the way, I am frequently offended by the use of "excessive" (there is a nice subjective term for you) bad language, and have lodged objections when I find it on moderated websites. John Dwyer.
From what I see that swearing problem comes down to a couple of things including the home environ and a simple lack of respect , personally I have no problem not cussing in public although once I was wired differently Most manage it , some get a quick induction on not doing so and suffer whilst learning
This is something I was very conscious of when I switched from blue-collar to white-collar work. I couldn't really stop swearing so I just "swore" using less offensive words. **** Shit **** became Wee Poo Bum, Bullshit became Fishpiss, etc. Sometimes I'd even catch myself saying things like "Rude in-and-out Word". Trouble was I tended to carry it out of the office and my friends thought it was hilarious. My girlfriend used to hang shit on me by saying "poo bum and eat cabbage!")
It depends on the work environment though. I am now working in a very white collar environment where I seem to be the token male and these girls have as much a potty mouth as me. Doesn't fuss me, they do their job well and if they want to say "****" I couldn't give a F*** Kev
