I'm not sure what longest distance day was, there's a route somewhere.

I'm only little, so the bending over doesn't bother me - I found it
more comfortable than the NC24 which starts to hurt after only 50
    miles or so.
I was ready for the nice hot bath when I got home.

I cooked for a friend tonight, only the fourth time in my life that
I've done that and no-one's died yet

The VFR has a little pouch of tools under the seat, but I never remember
that they're there. I managed to pick up some gaffer tape on the way back.

  8. Wouldn't make any difference if it had King Fayd's royal crest on it. If
the BMW logo was lacking or it didn't get passed across the counter of a
BMW parts stockist, with suitable Holy Genuflections of the plastic and
proferrings of the BMW OC #, it's obviously inferior, innit.

I bought some oil at a motorway service station in Germany - the Guzzi
had spewed its all over the rear wheel - and it was astonishingly
    expensive for a litre.

Although, no more than a litre of oil at a motorway service station would
    cost here.

I've never seen BMW branded oil. BMW (GB) have an arrangement with Castrol
and put a very wide, generic spec in their handbook.

Doesn't stop the tossers over on UKGSer getting all anal about oil, though.

I stick whatever is on offer at Halfords/Woolworths in mine. My independent
service guy bungs in a Valvoline mineral oil.

  11. Exactly. BMW themselves know the engines aren't all that exotic -
actually fairly ordinary as oil goes.
That's a given; it seems to be a common theme with a lot of owners, and
    not just Beemers.
Ba-ding. If it meets the specs the engine doesn't care.
