See, this is why I can't get into gambling; it forces people to root for
choices that simply aren't very nice.[/QUOTE]

I was thinking exactly the same. Like being a footbal fan(atic), means
you have to dislike any number of other teams/players, and can only
enjoy the game if your side's doing well. Misses out a lot, IMO.

that'd be me then. though its not true about enjoying a game when my
team is not doing well. I've had several excellent days out
interrupted by a shite game. I watch a lot of football not involving
    my team as well though.

There's only really one team that I dislike [1] due to them being the
rivals of my team. I dislike several other teams for other reasons
    [2].

it also means that I don't go overboard when it comes to supporting a
national team and I'm not heartbroken about the injury to Wayne [3]
and how it means that England wont win the WC. like they would have
    anyway.

[1] bit of an understatement here
[2] such as Newcastle having the best supporters on the planet. where
were they when the team was in the 2nd division?
[3] though to be fair it did raise a smirk )

  10. As I'm a nasty horrible non football supporting person I have to say
that I found the news of Wayne Rooney's injury most amusing. It's being
portrayed as the usual national crisis when all it is is some overpaid
semi talented idiot with a broken foot.

As you say - as if there was any chance at all of England winning.
Sven's antics and impending departure have seen to it that morale will
be such that we could not possibly win - and that's before we even talk
about whether the players are "talented" enough.
