    I listened the Guzi V8, Makes NASCAR V8's sound like kitten's -:)
Yes, I've got a book on the B-36 as well as "many other AC". Did you know
the 4 J47's were not added until after the "D" model. I'm also older than
Larry and lived in Omaha, where SAC HQ was and saw whole squadrons of B-36
fly-by in the mid 50's when I was about 10 years old. The "droning sound"
    was unimaginable!

BTW, Larry's full of shit bout' lot's of stuff. For instance, the Honda
oval piston, 32 valve, 8 rod, virtual V8 was first built to compete
against the 500cc GP two strokes, and it had only 500cc's. The NR750
    indurance racer came later;)

  2. Actually it was 6 R4360's and 4 5,200# thrust
J47-GE-19 Turbojets. 10 is the total but not
accurate description. The references I have found
don't mention if it had an onboard APU like the
B-29 did(mounted in the tail prone to breaking
    loose and causing catastrophic fires)
Did you notice that Larry caught my faux pas and I
    made the correction? Hmmm?

    http://www.air-and-space.com/peacemkr.htm
    Starting with the D model.

There was also a NB-36H "The "Convair Crusader"
    NB-36H, 51-5712 was equipped with a functioning
air-cooled nuclear reactor and a lead shielded
crew compartment. The reactor did not power the
airplane. Tests were conducted to determine the
effects of radiation on instrumentation and
    equipment."

Mere trifles...The last Schnider race was the end
of true unlimited air racing. Everything since has
    been a pale ghost imo.

Indeed and it was quiet the marvel for ANY era.
Gives me wood every time I hear it running.
I can imagine. Hmm, stuff I read said "WITH" odd
that. It's a most impressive aircraft to stand
next to...I've been under and up against the one
at WPAFB. Spent most of my life living next to the
pattern at McConnell and Vance. I can tell if it's
a Tweet or Mouse just by the sound. ;^)

Oh quit arguing over that. Neither the 500 or the
750 is a pimple (technological era's anyway) on
the ass of the 'Guzzi. 8^) Just imagine the power
of a modern iteration of the motor. I can and the
current motors would get toasted by a lighter
motor moving more air. Also just envision the
sound of 8 tuned titanium megaphone
exhausts(balance tubes would a spaghetti nest)

Your link confirms that Honda's NR750 was indeed an oval piston V4... why would
    you say it wasn't???

I never did, just that Honda's 500 (virtual V8-failed GP effort, was
1st. Have you even bothered to follow all the responses in this thread?
Hey there, Mr. retired "OMS tire kicker" -:)

Are you afriad of me now? And is your deer waiting around the next bend in
your own mind's eye??? Larry, you may have ignored my unfortuneate last
year but I still sympathize with your own single minded plight-:)

  7. I'm afraid your brain may spark 40 degrees retarded sometimes... have you been
    feeling alright???

And is your deer waiting around the next bend in
Always... back in 88 Mary's mom Ruby said "watch for deer Larry"... that thought
stuck in my mind so much that as I rounded a bend on H49 there stood my worst
fear... a 4 point buck by the edge of the road... I covered the brake and
scouted for wiggle room and I wonder how that buck got stamped with a US MAIL
logo... mercy me... it wasn't a deer... it was a mail box with the flag up... I
made that image into a 4 point buck about to bolt in my path... I risked
crossing the double yellow for nothing... but that's the power of Ruby's
    suggestion had on my thoughts...

I seem to remember you from when I first came into this group. Came
off as a pretty level headed guy. Didn't you have a red trump triple,
or do I have you mixed up with someone else? Of late, you seem to
have degenerated into some sort of 2nd rate troll, though I don't know
why. As for the quote, I was speaking only of the rather clever forty
degree retard line which I thought was pretty funny. It had nothing
to do with you. In fact, I had no idea it was even aimed at you.
Besides, in case you haven't been paying attention, I don't always
agree with Larry, my most recent exchange taking him to task for what
I considered to be some pretty irresponsible statements.

Whatever. Just trying to set the record straight. Here's hoping you
    pull your head out, soon.

How about a ROTARY, built into the wheels giving AWD....there actually
was a one-wheel drive bike like that built back in the teens or 20's IIRC.

There were a couple. The Megola....

....is probably the best known, having an example in the late great
"Art of the Motorcycle" Guggenheim exhibit. There was also the French
Millet, which had a 5 cylinder rotary on the rear wheel. Here's a fun

    No, no.
A radial engine has a fixed crankcase and cylinders, the crankshaft
    and prop turn together.
A rotary engine has a fixed crankSHAFT, the crankCASE, cylinders and
    prop turn together.
Look at a video of WWI Sopwith or Nieuport and you will see the WHOLE
    ENGINE spinning under the cowling.
Check it out, ot will blow your mind!
