Boring, boring, boring.
I decided to watch the World Touring Cars instead. I'm not entirely sure that the leader is meant to take out the safety car. Lucky they had a spare.
Isn't that brilliant? And on a related note, that looks like a superb way to spend a weekend. I wonder if they do any bike racing on that circuit? Hard to believe, because it's every so slightly unforgiving. <googles> Seems not, but there's a decent looking car GP there next weekend.
The circuit in Pau is pretty lethal for bikes so I wouldn't expect that there is. According to some webshites the Historic GP is supposed to be on next weekend and that is supposed to be a superb event. Oddly enough the official website appears to be stuck in 2008.
Yeah, I've been checking all afternoon and it just says: 12:30 pm Not available MotoGP - 2009 Round 4 - Le Mans Suzi Perry introduces live coverage of the French Grand Prix at Le Mans. ...which rather contradicts http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/motorbikes/4805050.stm "Or you can watch the race again on our iPlayer service for seven days after it has happened." It was unfortunately. There were other highlights such as being sat over the top of the Fiat-Yamaha team, decent grub (I won't go into the wine) and very close views of the brolly-dollies.
TBH, it's a shit circuit for bikes and really wouldn't be much fun. I've driven around it quite a few times as it goes.
I did! But they had the cameras on the main stands, not on the lodges. Honest guv. As an FYI, I found out that places in the VIP section were €110 per head (with unlimited soft drinks, loads of food (lunch and dinner included) and a few bottles of wine/champagne) for the two days. A grandstand view of both the races and the riders (I'll stick them up shortly). Oh, and VIP (semi-)secure parking [1]. I dunno if it'd be of interest to anyone but I was thinking of DFV'ing for next year and organising a UKRM lodge. Camping is always an option, but if we book far enough in advance (like about 4 months) then a hotel would be doable too. Thoughts? Or isn't anyone interested? I reckon a minimum of 10 would do the job but we'd probably have to share the lodge. If we got 20 people, then we'd probably have the place to ourselves. [1] On gravel. But at least they gave you a square chunk of wood for the sidestand.
On Sun, 17 May 2009 20:32:36 +0100, "Cab" snip> I'd be interested if we were doing it as a weekend jaunt and getting into a hotel for the Friday night through to the Monday morning. Are you going to look into transport between the hotel and the circuit so we can get pissed?
AOL. Leave is always tight but my sister's wedding's going to have to take priority over next year's French run so something like this would make a perfectly do-able substitute.
Noted, as per the posts of frag and ogden too. I'd not thought of that. I could have a butchers but would have thought a taxi is the easiest.
