Hi all - (South) Brisbane based, anyone know the best place and price to get
a motorbike trailer made up? For towing camping gear etc - not a trailer to
put the bike in. Something like checkerboard aluminium and gotta have a
    lockable top.
Or does anyone have one for sale??
Around a 900 x 1300? Rather bigger than smaller. Need it fairly deep. One
    quote came up $2800! :-(
    Thanks heapssssssss,
    Cookie.

Aluminium ain't cheap. Look into the cost of those checkerboard ally
toolboxes for trucks. What's $100 in a steel box is $500 in ally.

If I was making a trailer like that now - I already have one, but
fibreglass box - I'd go to a boat trailer place to make the chassis
and then either find enough stuff to make the box myself, or else ring
around places that make trailer tops for tradesmen or ute canopies and
see who can make me something close to what I want. I'd also ask them
what the cheapest way to go is.

If you want it cheap, you have to work. If you want it exactly how you
want, and you just want to ring up and order it, expect to pay.

  3. Have a look at the Ulysses web site -
    http://www.ulysses.org.au/index2.html

then go to Members Ads and For Sale.

There's usually a couple for sale in there, but they don't last long.

    Kind regards

Get your self a copy of the Australian Road Rider magazine, it has a few
    ads for bike trailers.

Thanks Zebee. Yeah, it was checkerboard we were keen on actually....omitted
that from my message. Like you say, ringing around is what gets it done the
way you want it eventually. We've been doing that so will just have to be
patient. Fibreglass top? Interesting - hadn't thought of that, will look
    into that further I think.
    Thanks again.

Thanks Dave - we're in Ulysses, but I hadn't even thought of their website -
don't usually go there too often. Thanks.

YOu did mention it, which is why I did :)

Face it - if you want that, you will pay big money. It adds a lot of
    cost.

Mine's a fibreglass bodied box trailer. the Classic Trailers are
    similar but lockable.
