I like watching this TV series (apart from being in love with Samantha)
for the WW2 vintage motorbikes used by the dispatch riders etc.

This evening I saw Series 6, Film 1 "Plan of Attack" which starts out
with some kind of single cylinder bike. It sure sounded funky.

Strangely enough it seemed to have modern-style plunging front
shocks, where I would have expected a springer or girder etc.

I also ride a single thumper, a Suzuki S40 (aka LS650 Savage) but
it doesn't sound anywhere near as interesting. Actually I'm still
running the stock muffler and it sounds more like a sewing machine
    than a motorcycle.

I remember reading that the stock muffler off a Harley Sportster fits and
works well. How much truth there is in this, I have no way of knowing.

That's what we call the header. The whole thing is called... you
    guessed it... an exhaust pipe.
