Have been riding for close to 9 years. My riding consists of daily commuting
and the occasional Saturday morning trips to Elizabeth street for a latte,
and a look of the new stuff in the bike world.
Family and work commitments have made it hard to get away for a Sunday ride
but circumstances have changed, and now I can set aside some time and
minggle with other folk that share the same passion.

My current ride is a vfr750 and enjoy spirited riding. Other than the yearly
pilgrimage trip to the GP, I havent toured much lately, probably waiting for
the kids to grow a bit so that the missus and I can once again get back into
    touring scene

What I expect from a club is what I am prepared to put into it. I can
organise meetings, bbq's and rides and contribute as much as the next
    person.

Have I narrowed it down a bit?

There is a BMW club that is I think inner-city. They do rides,
workshops and similar things. Checkout southbank BMW for more details.

I don't know if you need a BMW to join to I guess it would make sense.

Smee's first day in the Ulysses club...

Smee: "Alright, I think this is some interesting shit. But one
thing first, you recognized my skills, you chose me, so
I don't want no one callin' me sport, kid, or anything
    like that. You got me?"

    UC: "Okay, slick."

At our branch - new members are encouraged to stand and give their
name, suburb, and what they ride....

"Hi, my name is Smee, live in ***** , ride a 1100R John Deere~"

    Or snobby enough.

A mate and his missus, both over 40 rocked up to the local chapter one
Saturday morning for coffee and a ride with the locals. They were
shunned. Apparently sports bikes (CBR600 and R1) are not welcome.

Or sufficiently fluoro-dressed. On the one ride of theirs I joined, my
pillion and I were roundly ignored, until some bright spark sought to chide
me for wearing black, and riding a black bike! "You're invisible!" I
suppose that's why they didn't say g'day. You're blind, fuckwit.

If it was a "chapter" (sic), they were probably at a HOGS do.

Were they shunned, or did they roll up, stand on their own, and wait for
someone to come and engage them in conversation?

I've been to dozens of different Ulysses meeting-points and never been
"shunned", regardless of what I was riding, but then I always introduced
myself to the nearest person and asked who was organising the ride.

Some of you people must live in a parallel universe. I'm not particularly
sociable, and I'm barely presentable, but I'm fucked if I've ever been in a
situation where I felt shunned or ignored at a Ulysses ride.

They're not in a parallel universe. They're the ones you shun on ulysses
    rides.
