Shit, I've been to one (at the tender age of 30) ... I turned out
of a back road between two mobs of the old bastards, and the
highly efficienct corner-marking system neatly shepherded me
into the pub for lunch. Was made to feel quite welcome (partly
    because I actually had a map :) )

Speaking of bright there is a black and red bike, possibly a VFR running around eastern sydney
with purple underlights under the tail cowling and along the side leg guards and a flashing mini
strobe under the rear brake light.

Part of me asks "why?", and the other part of me asks "why hasn't he been arrested for bad taste?"

co> If it was a "chapter" (sic), they were probably at a HOGS do.

Nope. Just their weekly Sat run. They meet at the local Icecreamery for
coffee, etc. before the ride. Most were on cruisers, ST1300s, BMWs, that
    sort of thing.

co> Were they shunned, or did they roll up, stand on their own, and wait for
co> someone to come and engage them in conversation?

My mate's a very socialble type. He introduced himself (he already knew
one or two of the others) to the "captain" of the ride.

Martin, Ulysses doesn't have "chapters". HOGS do, as they have all things
    American and tacky.

I've never had a situation like your mate describes, but maybe shit happened
    that day for some reason.

  7. You hear of any good deals for the boat, let me know.

We plan to do the Smack thing, one takes car, the others fly and then meet
    up.

    Cheers

Sorry. "Branch", then. Or whatever they call their local groups.

Could've. I've chatted to them on occasion. I also know a few of them.

I would have suggested that perhaps he was being a tad sensitive. But
he's been involved in the local ALP branch for a long time, and in
politics you learn to grow a second hide.
