    Hi,

I had my moped front brake cable severed and obviously a new
one needs to be fitted. I am not sure if I can do this
myself if I can find the part that fits my bike. What is the
technical name for this item? And are they all standard for
mopeds? Its the cable that goes from the brake lever down to
the front disc brake. Do I need any specialized tools to fit
    it?

I'd be grateful for any advice on the matter. I am not sure
how much it will cost to get fixed by a mechanic but I'm
    guessing a lot.

    Thanks for any help

    Regards,
    Sean

This information is usually on a strictly need to know basis but a lucky
(for us) spin off from the compliance training for BS73419 that
automotive parts retailers have to do means that they have a much better
command of Spoken English and are better able to translate your pathetic
witterings into a cast iron excuse to disappear into the back room for
half an hour on the pretext of "searching for the right microfiche."
Although in your case the astonishingly accurate description of "the
front brake cable" might cause them problems as the General Public are
not supposed to know this type of information.

    I doubt it.

Not really. I dunno about mopeds so much but I can pretty much take my
bike apart with a 12mm spanner and a Number 3 screwdriver but an angler
    grinder is more fun.

As it is brakes it might be as well to have an old hand around to tell
you, you are a **** and total mechanical fuckwit, where do you live?

  3. If your front brake is hydraulic, then some cnut has sliced through your
hydraulic hose, and you need a front brake hose.

If it's a cable-operated disc, which I sincerely doubt, then you need a
    front brake cable.

As you're the clueless (no offence, like, but it's true) one who has
just posted about fitting an alarm/immobiliser, I strongly suggest you
don't touch something as essential to life and limb as brakes.

Get someone competent to do it.

I think you need to consider the possibilty of GAMI.
For a 10 minute job? Probably not "that" much.
