    Hello All,

I got a 93 yr. model KAWASAKI ninja 250cc and it has run for 4k miles
only and hasn't been used up for the past 2 years and currently, it
seems to run fine (ran the bike for couple of times @ 45 mph). I would
like to get it oil changed and probably a small service to check its
components around Fremont/Newark area or any area around 20 miles.

Looking for service stores, appreciate your help with this.

Also, I am looking to buy a leather jacket for myself & glove & knee
patch. any motor gear shops selling these items at reasonable rate.
looking for a jacket around 100$.

appreciate your input on this. This is my first bike and would like to
hear more info. on my safety and the bike.

Yes. It should definitely have an oil change, and probably a few other
minor things done. Consider doing them yourself, they aren't
difficult. Before searching much further, bookmark this page:

For gear generally, Road Rider in San Jose is worth a look:

Taken the MSF course yet? If not, that's the first order of business.

  3. you're not going to find a decent leather riding jacket for $100, unless
    its used.

I agree, Road Rider is the best bet for new discount gear, its about as
close to rock bottom mail order as what don't matter. All the popular
brands like Alpinestar, First Gear, Dainese, etc. Couple of times a year,
they have a huge parking lot sale where their distributors bring
truckloads of overstock last years styles and sell it for below wholesale.

for used gear, try Just Leathers on San Carlos near 880... while they
mostly cater to the cruiser crowd, they often have a dozen or so
sport-bike jackets and pants in back.

knee patches? you mean racing pads? those go on leather riding pants.

  4. Newenough may occasinoally have specials. They had a nice
stonewashed-looking leather jacket for $88, but they sold out pretty
    quickly.
I've found newenough.com good to deal with as well, tehy often have
some really cheap stuff, ESPECIALLY if you like kawasaki green. :)

I've bought several in that price range both from motorcycle shops and
others, at both ends of this state. If you're not looking for the
designer or motorcycle marque logos, it shouldn't be a problem.

I even bought a lightweight leather jacket from Walgreen's a couple of
years ago for $50. It's not as sturdy as the others, but it's a nice
compromise for those hot days when you'd otherwise be tempted to go bare.

I agree with Rich - you can get adequate leather jackets for not much
cash (I found OK jackets for $80 at a Wilson's Leather outlet). BUT,
bear in mind: cheap leather jackets are usually thin leather and not
very durable. After one crash they will be trash.

If you pay more, you can get jackets which will still be 'structurally
sound' after a mishap ... but it will be a scuffed up.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with used gear..assuming its not trashed.

More often than not, ppl selling m/c gear either don't fit into it
anymore, or are giving up the whole 'motorcycle thing'. We recently
got a -smokin- deal on a 2-piece Spidi zip-together suit with -brand
new- Daytona boots for $150, from a woman that just didn't ride any
more. There are deals to be had.

Check Craigslist.com, too. Lots of good stuff there..lots of nutters,
    too.

  8. no, I'm looking for armor, double stitching, and quality thick cowhide
that would actually withstand a lugeless pavement ride... I also
appreciate having a mesh inner liner and zipper vents to help with cooling
on hot days, and a removable thermal liner is nice.
