I tend to let traffic know I'm there, then drop back into the pack, sort
of sitting there with Duc exhaust note tends to help.
Modern bikes are just to farkin' quiet and lane splitters sometimes
    surprise ME.
Yes I do look for bikes but the EPA ensures they are not heard. Take away
one of the senses.. and I'm not talking straight through pipes here
either, just a recognisable sound of a motorcycle.
Some new bikes cam chain is the first thing you can hear. There must be
some reason the authorities that are supposedly looking after us require
    us to not be heard.

    Not so.

The Victorian Road Rules define a multi-lane road as......

    multi-lane road, for a driver, means a one-way road, or a two-way road, with 2 or

more marked lanes (except bicycle lanes) that are-

    (a) on the side of the dividing line or median strip where the driver is

    driving; and

    (b) for the use of vehicles travelling in the same direction.

So a road with 1 lane each way is not considered a multi-lane road and therefore a driver must travel as far left as practicable in
    his/her lane.
