    WANT! (well the lad will).
I wish could commission someone to build a slightly beefier version
with an 85 or even a 125 motor. The ultimate junior hill climb bike.

Wondering how long the braking system will last, and how adequate it
really is. They got the mountain bike brakes on something which is quite
    heavier and faster.

Come to think of it, the full question is how come KTM and the rest
didn't think about it before? And my answer so far is that they may know
a lot more than these chaps about material strength and the stress
applied to various parts of the bike (including the frame) during some
    serious off-road riding.

I don't think they designed it with 'serious' off-roading in mind.

Have you seen what free-ride mountain bikes are actually used for?
They get ridden off and down stuff you couldn't physically do on a
    motorbike.

If that bike weighs roughly what I think it does, then the brakes are
more than up to it, as are all the other bicycle components those guys
    have used.

About twice the weight of a freeride bike then. But if those brakes
are good enough to haul a 15/16 stone rider to a stop quickly from
40-50mph off a cliff then they'll be up to the task I reckon.

This is what mtb freeride bikes are used for...

    Pretty!

Some of the tubby guys at work who live in the higher tax brackets got
into mountain biking last yr, despite managing to spend more than my
salary on bikes supposedly the best available with all the wavy braked
tat nailed to them, they routinely break them.

Are they simply falling for sales pitches on gear that really is more
price tag and style than function, are the bikes THESE (in the video)
guys are riding thousands and thousands of pounds, or are they buying a
    new one every few weeks?

When I was a kid doing a paper round, I used to lob my cast iron bike
down peoples driveways by stepping off to deliver their paper and not
really caring how the bike landed and it never did worse than throw a
    chain.

HTF do you *learn* to back summersault a bike into stopped on the back
    WHEEL?!

Hard to assess "cute" regarding one's own, but I DO have a 30 yr old
    sister.
Are we swapping CBRs or angle grinders?

If she's cute and blonde, the CBR, if she's a munter you can have the
angle grinder. Be warned, the power switch on the angle grinder is stuck
in the on position and it dances across the bench when you plug it in,
so go get her plastic surgery sorted soonest.
