All the lead from my roof is now in my garage.
They destroyed it all, and took NONE!

Just had a quote for a pitched roof to go over my flat roof on my
    garage
Builder got some quotes for 6 Mtr x 12" roll lead flashing, thinking
    it
    would be aroundf £ 50 to £ 70
turns out cost to him would be £ 128!

They must have been disturbed. In a properly pikey neighbourhood
they'd have taken it with them, obviously.
And for all the other raw material/metals price increases. Prices I'm
paying for car and bike batteries have almost doubled over the past
three months, as apparently the Chinese have cornered the market for
    lead and zinc.

We slammed as many doors as we could reach and turned all the lights on
whilst cowering behind our triple locked doors, they only legged it when
    the police turned up.

Oddly they did leave an upturned, but broken, large plastic container.
Presumably destined for lugging the stuff. It had a price sticker on it
at £7.99, so unless they nicked that too they're a bit down on the day.

Good grief. They used to mine both of those, in significant
quantities, mere miles from where I sit now. AFAIK there's still
plenty there, waiting for it to be economically viable to dig up
    again.

    <thinks>
Where did I leave my shovel and pickaxe?
