Well I spoke to Rog last night and while the plan sounds basically good
there is that niggling doubt. I've never thought Spain, or the Spanish,
were all that nice. Italy I could understand but not Spain.

Don't forget they keep stealing our fish.

Well to be fair is there another country in the world constructing a
camera system to watch every road journey taken by every vehicle
    24x7x365?

    Probably not.

    Yet.

Britain are just the pioneers, is all.

  10. Much of inland Andalucía is indeed a shit hole. They are ruining it as
fast as they can. Most of the indigenous(sp?) folk have webbed fingers
    as well.

I was thinking of going to live on the coast where the climate is a bit
more friendly. Up here it's freezing in the winter and stupidly hot in
the summer. Still, plenty of pretty cranes to look at. And I don't mean
    birds.

Where's your gaff then? Must be spitting distance of here.

Isn't that just a bit like saying that Holywood is a lovely little town
    in Northern Ireland

  12. You can generally take what you want off the trees. I was referring to
the "nearly always dry roads". Oh, and the bendy roads are often
    peppered with pot-holes.

I think the cranes and construction is more down Coin and nearer the
coast. I'm buying in a national park area which is also designated as a
world biosphere reserve by UNESCO so the construction is more tightly
controlled. Locals are selling old townhouses and building new on their
bits of campo near the towns, but in the old style. I found them very
friendly and welcoming, must be my disarming friendly nature. I always
seem to find it easy to get on with mountain people...

It's true that it gets hot in summer, and I will prolly spend July and
august elsewhere, but the coast and it's sea breeze is only 45 mins away,
and the house has a cave in the back which I can build a cool pool in.

    Whereabouts are you based?

The Alhambra and Granada old town is fantastic. Excellent free tapas with
every drink too. Cordoba, Cadiz and Seville I haven't been to yet. Ronda is
fab and only 40 mins drive or a beautiful 25km walk through the Sierra de las
    Nieves.

The unfenced trees anyway, of which there are lots.

There has been a lot of euromoney going onto the roads, great near where
I'm going, but yes, you need to take care on the b roads. Also true of
    britain though.

My 19 year old nephew has just returned from a year working in Spain and
France for a hotel chain. He told me he'd rather any French girl than a
Spanish or Italian one. By his reckoning French girls are easier on the
eye and wallet, but a damn sight tougher on your body.

Ah you have it there. In the costal strip they feed off each other like
    cockroaches.
