Has to be said that the summer clothes (or rather lack of them) season
sights up at the big lake beach are most invigorating. As to the effect
on wallet and body, I can but dream .. didn't do Picasso too much harm
    by all accounts.

Further west where there's a bit more precipitation. Sierra de las Nieves.

  5. And aptly named. So much for your dry roads :)

    Very pretty up there.

I'm in one of the scummy bits near Antequera - Fuente de Piedra to be
    precise.

  6. I've watched the film twice. Apparently bears no resemblance to the book
ie; there's no sex in the book.

  7. Go for it Sir and the beast of luck.

Now I'm wondering whether to sell my low mileage FJ12 and buy new when I
get where I'm going or take it with me.

Anyone want a nice 5 bed detached in Norfolk?

  8. Unfortunately, Granada is largely a fucking great building site. I've
    never seen so many cranes.

    Quite like the airport though.

Cadiz is a port, not really much to do, unless you are into big ships!
We stay at an apartment Casares two or three times a year. I often
wondered what Ronda would be like. There are some great places round
that area. We are off in August again, for two weeks. Gonna do a bit
more inland exploring this time. Was over there at Christmas, 19 degrees
    & sunny!

Ah, lots of flamingos as well as cranes then. I was warned off going further
north and east than Ardales. I've found a place in Yunquera. I know a sneaky
way through the El Chorro gorge from the north.

Is Torqual de Antequera like Brimham Rocks on steroids then?

Great up around Trevelez. I was looking at a few tumbledown mountain cortijas
in the Alpujarras, but decided a nice well sorted townhouse on a bedrock
foundation plus a few terraces of oranges on a 1/2 acre plot 10 mins walk
    away was a better plan.

Feckin hot in August in Ronda I'll warn you. Only 45 mins to the sea breezes
    on the costa though.

Apart from the job situation (as in, I do actually have one) and the
broken spine, that more or less sums it up for me. The gubmint is
saying it's introducing more and more restrictions on us, the cost of
living is spiralling - the cost of gas and electricity being a
wonderful example - that I'm finding I have less available cash to
    splash on myself any more.

Waking up in Spain on Saturday with the glorious weather that was
there, and thinking 'great day for a ride'..just a shame the bike was
    back in the UK.
The couple I stayed with this w/e are currently doing up some old
properties that they acquired from selling their house in Brum. When
they've finished one will be sold, and the other will be available 'to
let' for holidaymakers, enabling them to get a bigger property with
    more land.

They appear a lot more relaxed over there than they were over here,
despite the fact that they are having to work damned hard to get the
building upgrades done for the end of March, and they have lots of
ideas for the future that they don't feel they would be able to achieve
in the UK, certainly not financially anyway.

I won't be going for at least 12 months, I've got far too many things
to sort out over here, but at least I've got someone to go and view
properties for me which will reduce the number of times I have to fly
    over during that period.
Indeed. I've spoken to a number of people over the w/e who took the
plunge, apparently very few people decide that they've made a mistake
    and return back home.
