Yep, same here - Jan 05 was close to 9%, then it slowly fell down to about
4% and crept up to 7% or so recently.

I guess it's really low if you don't buy petrol, don't fix up your house and
don't get your vehicles repaired...

Having been to both I'd be forced to agree. But to claim that 'Spain
is a shithole' just because there are nice places elsewhere is a bit
strong, to say the least.

FWIW I've very much enjoyed some bits of Spain, like Andalucia
(admittedly 10-20 years back so it may have changed out of all
recognition), whereas there are many parts of Italy (& Sicily, in
particular) which I'd happily label as shitholes.

But I wouldn't make the mistake of trying to extrapolate to the whole
country in either case, nor would I be tempted to compare the two. I
mean, why not also compare them with Greece, or Germany, or Romania?

I gave that a go, and it seems that if you're spending money on
worthwhile things like electronic goods, Primark clothes or short-haul
flights, then your personal inflation rate will go down, whereas if
you're frittering your money away on things like electricity, getting to
work or having somewhere to live, your personal inflation rate will go
up.

Hurrah for cheap Chinese imports artificially reducing the true cost of
living! Plasma tellies for all!
