Allegedly not much use with stainless steel pans though, which would
render it bugger all use in my kitchen.

Whaaaat? Sheesh, just got mine. £270 for the winter quarter. OK, so we
heat the house with it and partially cook on it.
Depends. We had a lot of those horrible spotlight bulbs in the house -
replaced by those low energy ones now. And the oven and grill are
electric. And I'd shutter to think of the number of kilowatt/hours that
    posting to ukrm consumes.

Mostly due to the diff between a large-ish house with 4 people vs
average flat with one person, I would guess.[/QUOTE]

Mine's £43/month. Probably because I leave the heating thermostat at
19C, and rarely use the gas fire in the living room. The hob is gas
    though.

Almost perfect climate apparently. Obviously they need to have a Wetback
    Holocaust sometime soon.

I live with a woman, ergo my heating bill can be quite large. If she had
her way, all the windows would be glued shut (not least to stop the
burglars and murderers getting in) and all the radiators replaced with
    blow torches. With added blankets.

Caff or shed. One of the two. Prace bets now.

Big cities are much of a muchness I find. Boston, as FJ comments, is
nice, though some of the 'burbs are dangerous. I expect it's a case of
who you know and the social scene you find yourself in.
For me the USA is about the huge level of availability of about anything
I could want at affordable prices (cheese excepted) and endless variety
of countryside with very low levels of population density.
I find most of the people amazingly friendly and for a reformed Veggie
the food is a non stop extravaganza.
They have a Live for Today attitude, reflected somewhat in their disdain
for all the long term doom and gloom Global Warming EuroHype. Anyone who
is restricting their enjoyment of today for worrying about things 10 or
100 generations hence has a screw loose IMHO, unless Phil was right
    about God all along (gulp)

What about people worrying about things 1 or 2 generations hence?

And why am I even bothering to ask you?
