It takes me a week to read the Sunday Times.

  4. Don't normally bother with the day to day stuff
IoS, and if that's sold out, Observer.

Occasionally the Indy on Saturdays instead of Sundays though...

Independent, normally a couple during the week and the weekend ones.

Main problem I find is the amount of time required to read a paper
    from cover to cover.

AOL. The last time I tried to read a Sunday broadsheet I think I got as
far as finishing the front page :(.

That's all I usually have time for, but I'll also buy it during the week
    on occassion.

And, of course, the Hexham Courant, "Northumberland's largest-selling
weekly newspaper". Also Northumberland's *only* weekly newspaper, but
they tend to gloss over that.

  14. Too true. What I miss now was my access to the satellite news feeds into
Europe. Tomorrow's TV news today warts and all.
I love both the well written beauty and the outrageous misuse of English
    ie some Sun headlines.
A lot of continentals get their newspaper exposure in cafes/bars where
they have them mounted on sticks hanging on the wall. Something I would
like to see in England. I got my old local to put a rack on the wall and
have half a dozen papers. The pub reckoned they paid for themselves with
    extra beer drunk.
Without the Sun behind them I doubt if any British government could get
    voted in.
Historically, during WW2 there were a couple of papers that shut down
before they were closed down for not printing what the Nazi's demanded.
I think Deutche Welle was one and another was Dutch, it's name has been
mentioned before. Their reporting today is always held high esteem.
Long live the English version of foreign papers on the 'net.
Mail Guardian Telegraph Sun (Half at the pub.)
    Same.

The Internet versions should not be forgotten.

I class the Guardian Unlimited as one of the most informative and well
presented Internet reads for a British 'paper'. It drops most of the
politics for it's more international audience and has some *very* good
    in-depth articles.

Looking at my 'Favourites list' on IE I have 34 news sources that I
amble through in the morning while I drink a cup of coffee or two.

There are some very good local papers. I think Eastern Daily Press on
    the 'net is up there.

That fairly common these days, especially when you're not stuck
    out in the sticks )

AOL. I hadn't thought about on-line versions, so put me down for GU too.

Bedfordshire on Sunday, a local free-sheet. I have to read it three
times during the week, because I've forgotten what was in it by the
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday following the day it dropped on the
    doormat.

    Times.

I don't read a sunday more than once a week, but when I do it's the
    Sunday Times.

When visiting my parents I scan through the Daily Mail.
