Damn. I was hoping for an outraged denial.

Probably more likely to have others wish to associate themselves with
    those sentiments.

    err, like me.

  3. Is that the research that says most of it comes from Turkish, that was
actually suggested about 10 years ago?

  4. Why do you underline the names of the papers? Isn't caps or quotation
    marks enough?

  5. And all the folk in England without computers connected to the internet
who buy Le Monde on mondays don't do so, so they can find out when the
porn is on, on Chanal Plus?

  6. News of the World.

Anyway, the reason Bild doesn't seem so bad is a) the Germans don't
have such hangups about nudity, the papers don't have to try as hard,
because general adverts and stuff are not as repressed as here and b)
the rest of the Axel Springer Verlag newspapers are almost as bad as
Bild, whereas other NI papers like The Times tries to be much more
highbrow. Actually, scrap that b) section, Die Welt is no more or less
    tabloid than The Times.

I like the "most powerful tool" bit. So, so true.

  12. Wonderful stuff. "OK. Zeugma the site from orbit. It's the only way to
be sure. And then bring on the litotes to mop up what's left."[1]
Heh. It's fun prodding people from behind MacSoup's k/file because
    they're convinced it ain't working.

  13. Do you remember Hoyt? He shared this hilarious inability to admit he was
wrong, which led to ever more convoluted threads as he tried to weasel
his way out of it, and more and more people joining in to tickle him
    with their cattle prods.

In a Usenet "career" where I've made more than my fair share of
****-ups, I've learned one thing. If you get it wrong, you simply fess
up, say you goofed, and everyone moves on. If you don't, you're the
focus of hours of amusement from every comedian withn range.

It's the 200 million Merkans who are wrong.
