Since everybody seems to be turning 40 ...

The CD shop at Waterloo has a sale on at the moment, and knock me down with a
feather if they didn't have the entire Echo and the Bunnymen back catalogue
on CD, 25th anniversary remastered special editions wiv extra live tracks, at
    3 for £20.

So I snaffled the lot. And The Smiths "Best". And Patti Smith "Horses"[1].

Quite odd, listening to all that lot again, and through a good stereo. Eeee,
it takes me back to revising for my mock O-levels.

[1] no, I have no idea why

Which CD shop is this? Is there only one at Waterloo station?
I might be passing next week.

"Impulse", I think. Near Carphone Warehouse and Dixons, and the steps to the
    Jubilee line

That must be a remarkably short and silent CD..

  6. Indeed. And right up until I actually hear the lyrics. Why Morissey
didn't do us all a favour and top himself I'll never know.

And as for his "I'm the only original songwriter in the UK music scene"
    comment..

Indeed. I don't find them remotely "depressing". In fact, I'm generally
mystified by people who find bands such as The Smiths and Radiohead as
depressing. Perhaps they have to listen to Toploader 24/7 to stop them
    topping themselves ...

I was playing OK Computer once and my mate asked "what the **** is this
depressing shit?". Funny, I'd been feeling quite cheerful. I simply
replied that anyone who has Bryan Adams in their CD rack can FRO.

It wouldn't work, I'd happily top anyone that plays toploader 24/7.
