  1. A further edition of Mr Corfield's recent CD purchases that are
    recommended.

Johnny Cash - American Recordings 5 - 100 Highways. This was finished
after his death but is a great record - full of emotion and very
    poignant.
Nelly Furtado - Loose. Yes really - it is rather good.
Justin Timberlake - Future Sounds / Lovesex (same comments as for Nelly
    Furtado)
The Feeling - Twelve Stops and Home
    Paul Simon - Surprise
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Norman Jay - Good Times 6 (compilation)
    Outkast - Idlewild
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Stadium Arcadium
Dave Gilmour - On an Island
    Delays - You see colours
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show your bones
Flaming Lips - At war with the mystics
    Pet Shop Boys - Fundamental
The Like - Are you thinking what I'm thinking?
    Snow Patrol - Eyes open
LL Cool J - Todd Smith

I haven't yet got the new Killers, Elton John, Razorlight or Scissor
Sisters albums but they're on the shopping list.

    Let the comments fly.

Some good stuff, failed to keep my interest though
Get the two disc edition of Tah-Dah. If anything the second disc is
better than the first. Good stuff though.

I'm genuinely staggered at the number of times this word appears in the same
    sentence as "acclaimed"

I'm shocked. There's at least half a dozen acts there that I've
    actually heard of...

According to Google, Razorlight and acclaimed occur 69000 times together
whereas Razorlight and annoying occur 102000 times.
I think I'll stick to the 'seventies....

Well, if you get a chance, listen to XFM between 8 and 9 tonight .. there's
a band on there tonight called My Luminaries who are releasing their first
single next month, it's getting its first air play tonight .. it's called
"Jumping the Great White". Let me know what you reckon, I've not heard it
    yet ..

Oh, and they used to serve me beer in my local .... they were quite good at
    that, but not enough freebies.

  9. Can't listen to it without going all sniffy.
I'll take your word for it.
That's the most unexpected purchase in your list, I've never thought
of you as a Muse fan.
Despite having most of the previous albums I've still not got round to
getting this - the video of the single kept my attention more than the
music so I haven't been in a rush.
I've never been able to get into The flaming lips. The ex did a
compilation CD for me a while back, maybe I should give it another go.
Three out of those four have been purchased by either myself or the
offspring. The Razorlight one keeps reminding me of talking heads but
    I can't decide why.
When you die can I have your CD collection?

it probably isn't much of a surprise, but nothing on your list appeals
to me in the slightest. That said, I haven't bought any new music for
    months and months now.

Sam's Town by The Killers is good, but not as good as Hot Fuss IMO.
I'm trying to get tickets to see them at Brixton next month but they're
going for >?200 a pair on eBay at the moment.
You may also like "Not Accepted Anywhere" by The Automatic (a bit like
Kaiser Chiefs, if you like them).

In that case, allow me to sell you an unused copy from Amazon of the new
    Squarepusher.

Damn warpmart's pre-order feature, I've got 2 of the things.

Not so much broad as borderline indiscriminate, if that (and past) lists
    are anything to go by.
True, he liked some godawful shite too.

I keep trying to find new stuff worth listening to, but it's getting
increasingly difficult to find stuff that doesn't sound like a carbon
copy of something from 20 or 30 years before, with an emphasis on
    Supertramp.

The only things that have really captured my interest recently are Give
Up by The Postal Service (not exactly recent and has alarming shades of
Ian Broudie) and Pull Shapes by the Pipettes, which is just plain silly.

Aye, he was a bit hit & miss, to be sure. He was almost
single-handedly responsible for Marc Bolan's rise, for which we should
thank him, and was at the forefront of the punk thing, IIRC. But later
he was also a champion of Hip Hop, for which, frankly, he deserved to
    be hung.
