    1. It was totally awesome.

    2. F4 SPR engines have very pretty conrods, especially when the sun
catches them & makes them glisten as they sit in the belly pan.

    3. The top speed of the new BMW M6 seems to be around 180mph - somewhat
slower than an F4 1000 (but somewhat faster than an SPR with half its
    engine internals on the outside).

    4. It's quite hard to pull the clutch in when there's a stone wedged
between the lever & master cylinder. Luckily I didn't find out if the
same applies to the front brake.

    5. Michelin Pilot Powers are superb.

    6. Ace doesn't like going out on his bike when he's got a hangover -
    the wuss.

    7. Italian police love MVs, as do Taiwanese tourists.

    8. Datatool alarms are very easy to remove, & great fun to jump up &
    down on.

Yeah, well, there were several factors, not least the large quantities
of rouge ingested[1], but also little points like I couldn't remember,
or find[2] any way of finding out, the name and location of the track.
Had I been bright and breezy, I'd have picked you up at the border and
ridden up with you, but once that option was gone I was a bit fucked.

So, how was the track day anyway? The weather held for you anyway (at
least it did further south) so hopefully a fun day was had by all.

[1] I thought the trackday was on the Saturday, not the Sunday.
[2] Or, more accurately, in my alcohol-addled state, think of any of
the now obvious ways I could have done so.

Twas a very fun day. The weather was perfect all week, apart from the
torrential rain & zero visibility whilst going over the Susten pass on
Saturday. I think the Bugatti EB110S Lightweight, Ferrari 420 & Bentley
Thingy giving it large in the other direction were having more fun than
    we were - the bastards.

Just out of interest, do they ever open both lanes in the Basel
underpasses? I'm sure the same bits were coned off as when we went
through last year, & it's not clear whether it's for road works, or
some form of sadistic torture of motorists.

heh. It's been six years or more in the making, but I believe that
everything should be finished by Spring next year. Once done it'll be
underground all the way through - currently there's still a section
around VoltaPlatz which is not yet open. In the meantime, I think
they've opted to keep much of the new stuff down to one lane to smooth
the traffic flow - constant changes from one to two to one etc. would
    not help.

Of course, as soon as it's finished, they'll find somewhere else they
need to build a new road...

I would've thought so, but this one definitely wasn't. I was bouncing
off the rev limiter at 162[1][2] & it was happily pulling away.

    [1] GPS.
    [2] I've lowered the gearing.

It didn't really matter tbh, as the moronic dealer hadn't bothered to
wire in the fuel pump cut-off part of the immobiliser. So although the
starter motor was disabled, it still bump started.

I just carried on with it like that for a couple of days until I could
be bothered to whip the tank off & perform a bit of surgery.

    Bear says...
    AOL

I refuse to ever have another on any motorcycle I own. If I buy a bike
with one fitted it shall be removed immediately I get the bike home, if
it makes it home without the alarm fucking up.

The discount on my insurance is 30 quid for having an alarm fitted. I'd
pay 50 quid to have one removed.
