MX Style Helmet

I usually wear an open face helmet (the magnificent Davida) in all
weathers - I do have a full face but the chin bar is too close to my face
for my liking and the MX type look "roomier".

The ones I've looked at - which are style rather than actual competition
kit - don't seem to have any more ventilation than my full face.

The full face is also due for replacement - it's five years old, been
dropped countless times, needs a new visor and pinlock bit so I'm looking
    at alternatives.

Steamy breath and snotty noses are going to be an issue on the Norway run.

Failing that, a neoprene ski mask is good for -35C.

I have a neoprene mask I wear with an open face under my scarf - less for
low temperatures but for heavy rain that *fucking* hurts at speed, even
    with a scarf.

I was thinking it'd be good for you and Mark to be able to change from
the farmer/sheep scenario after a couple of days.

Which is why I recommended a Revolution. The 'fighter pilot' mask does
away with any misting problems (not that the double glazed visors mist
anyway), & helps keep your face warmer. The visor surround stops any
rain/snow getting on the inside of the visor when you open it, & the
built-in dark inner visor is great when the sun's low. Add in the fact
it's a flip so you can have a fag without taking it off, & it's the
best 'extreme winter' helmet by far, probably because it was originally
    conceived for snow-mobile use afaik.

I didn't realise they're flip front helmets. Why the **** did you have
    to post this?

OTOH they are very heavy and noisy. Does that help?

Heavy, yes. I don't find mine particularly noisy though, but I always
    wear ear plugs.

I always used to as well. Compared to my Wing it's *very* loud.

Mined ewe there are so many variables involved in things like seat
    position etc.
