Ah. I just meant navigating to the folder and double clicking, so I suppose
it'd be streaming. To my mind, streaming implies some odd special player
software. Which it looks like may be the easiest option.
I got as far as the bit where it said "It doesn't really work". If someone's
admitting that on the documentation for an open source project then what
they actually mean is "You have no chance of making this work, even if you
ring up every programmer you know and quiz them for hours". I've now read it
again, and it looks doable. Not really a windows frontend, more of a special
    media player for windows.
Music mainly. I can watch video on the telly. But I'd want all my music on
the mythbox too. I will read. Once I've done the brakes.

Does it do series record etc. and have a decent EPG? My biggest irritation
with all digiboxes, barring Sky boxes really, is that the menus are
    incredibly slow to navigate through...

Not tried series record, but mine has a 2-week EPG.

Mine does series record (I use it for Heroes 'cos I'm always out at 9pm on
Thursdays) and it works a treat.

The EPG works well and the recording from the menus is slick (highlight
program, press 'record' button, if it's a series you get the option for a
single programme or the series and just hit the relevant coloured button -
    voila!).

Oh, and it is permanently recording the programme you are watching so you
can always pause/rewind live TV (i.e. you don't have to tell it might want
to do this at some time like I had to with my previous Daewoo box). If you
are watching a programme and then decide you want to record it, it will
attempt to start the recording from the beginning of the programme if it has
    it 'cached'.

I don't really use it much for watching TV now that I have a Freeview TV,
but it gets used like a VCR for recording stuff. And having twin tuners
means I can be recording from two channels while watching a third via the
    TV.
