Could you replace it with something jap that you can get levers, lightswitches
    etc from anywhere?

  2. need a front brake lever for my 1984 MZ 250. believe its a Brembo part
made specifically for the MZ. anyone know of an MZ being wrecked or,
better yet a source of spares ?
    Thanks, Anchovy, captain ( retired)

If you pick up a copy of Classic Bike mag you should find MZ dealers
advertising in the UK, else go to google.co.uk and search there.

Your chances in Oz are minimal although if you go to a shop that has
done Italian motorcycles for a long time you can ask if they have any
older Brembo levers, you never know what might fit.

Go to your local "messy as hell and bits of old bikes all ove rthe
joint" wreckers and ask to paw through their lever collection. Again,
you never know what might fit.

  5. No, supposedly it was a Brembo lever but made only for the MZ.
A German site has just replied and told me they have been
unavailable for years. the prob. is that i'm trying to get my MZ back
onto the road after a couple of years but am told that it must have an
operating front brake switch. IE the brake light must come on when the
front brake is applied. it has the switch which screws into the housing
but the lever doesnt act on it. i think the original lever has been
replaced B4 i bought it with an earlier (drum brake) lever.

    Things you can try...

find a welder who can add the needed bit to the lever you have

mold up what it has to look like in plasticine and hunt through boxes
of levers at a wrecker for what might fit.

See if you can find a different switch you can shoehorn in.

Take the master cylinder and perch into a wreckers and find something
of about the same volume and pipe size and use that instead. You
might need to find someone who knows about how these things work to
    get the right measurements.
