I went for a quick spin in proper rain, in the HG gear i have you don't
    notice it after a while.

The 210bhp Aero is just that, adequate. I'd hate to go lower. 350 rocks.
The former is fine for commuting and lugging shopping around though.

27mpg and 19mpg respectively, for the lead of foot.

Get a nice Ducati, start drinking beer and take up an African mistress.

I can't agree. I make 15-20mph more progress by bike on M-Ways during
the week and by car sitting for 5-60mins stationary is a regular.

I think you need to give some consideration to the clothing. It is
going back a way but commuting to London, which was impossible by car, I
sought the advice of a good tailor. I had a suit and also a jacket and
trousers which didn't crease up. Bike boots which looked OK though I
carried a pair of slip on shoes. And a one piece UVEX waterproof which
zipped from the knee to the neck.

It saved me some 20mins to 2hrs a day.

Having now owned Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha bikes, and ridden a few
other brands I can now say Suzuki seem to make the bikes I enjoy
    riding the most.

  6. Second the motion.

A mate of mine was having a go at me the other day about Hyabusas only
being owned by people who want to go fast in a straight line. Sod
that. I weigh 95kg and don't mind hauling a larger bike into corners.
That was the first Suzuki I had owned after 2 decades of Hondas,
Yamahas and a Ducati. Brought the biggest grin to my face. Not it was
as refined and smooth as the Hondas, but shit I had fun on it.

I've since found that my allowance won't be as high as I thought,
    maybe 200 quid after tax.

So car it is. Ok it's going to be 100 quid or so going out every
month, but to run a car for 25k miles a year, it's got to be the
    cheapest way of doing it.

Must admit, I'd been having thoughts of replacing the Bandit and the
    GSXR with a new 'Busa.

But it seemed like sacrilege to put full Givi luggage on a 'Busa, and
the whole car thing has put paid to it anyway. The GSXR is enough for
    me.

I think I'd already made the decision, given 5 of the 7 bikes I've
    owned have been Suzukis.

Don't you generally need fully working eyes for driving trains?

I love Kawasakis, but I seem to keep buying Suzukis. There's probably
    something in that.

Glasses are ok but you need to meet certain uncorrected standards. Along
the lines of being able to find your glasses (or more importantly, the
brakes) without them - I suspect you wouldn't meet the standard.

I doubt I'd even be able to find the standard, let alone meet it. With
    or without correction.

  17. I did it 8 years ago on LUL and never regretted it. Our holidays are
structured differently though; 4 blocks of 2 weeks each year but we work
Public Holidays normally and we're rostered for a 36 hour week so we
    accrue hours there too.

Don't you find it rather boring and repetitive?

  19. It has its moments, but it pays well - far more than when I was an
    engineering manager.

After all, I doubt I would be in a position to be posting this from
    Tokyo if I hadn't changed!

  20. If I'd known how secure, well-paid and relatively straightforward it
is being a driver, I'd have gone for that rather than engineering
    within Southern.

Having said that, I really enjoy my work and the people I work with.
And on this Class 313 project I'm earning more-or-less what a driver
makes anyway... The only downside is having to do more hours to make
that wage, but if we manage a 35 hour week at the next pay &
    conditions review I'll be laughing...
