Need warmer gloves!

Ok, so it was 1.8 degrees this morning on my highway ride to work and my
fingers were just about solid blocks of ice when I got here (~25min ride at
110kph). My Dent Thinsulate gloves just don't cut it at that temp
obviously. Are there warmer gloves around, or am I better to try something
like heated grips? My fingers were so cold when I got here that I could
barely pull the brake lever on......not good!

First thing - fairing with hand protection, or else dirtbike handguards.

That will give you the most bang-for-buck, no question.

Heated grips are probably next on the list, although heated gloves might
be better, Rivet used to make those.

  3. Heated grips, silk inner gloves (make you look a bit like a poof if anyone
sees you wearing them, but they do work).

Then, if that doesn't work, try dirtbike hand guards.

  5. On 8/7/04 9:30 AM, in article
You should go riding with that Centurion bloke. You can feel his arse so he
knows it is still there, and that will help warm your hands. Simple really.

  6. Umm mine don't ... SPIDI winter gloves, Kevlar and a little tag with
H2-Out written on it. Can't see any model number, but they've been
through blizzards and dumping rain and my hands have stayed dry. Add
heated grips and I don't have a drama.

    Cheers

    Awesome......gotta be lovin' that.

Around town wasn't an issue for me.......just the highway bit at 110kph.
When I got here and hit the first set of lights, I was actually happy (for
probably the first time ever) that it went red as I was approaching, so I
could stick my fingers in under the frame next to the engine and try to warm
    them up a bit :)

My Spidi H2-Out pants have been wonderful for years, not a smidgeon of a
    leak.

Didn't know they did gloves, will have to find some...

1.8 degrees? Outside? 25 minutes on the road? Pffft - you're soft!
It was -1 *inside* my caravan this morning when I headed off on my
    90km commute[1]. ;-)

Don't bother with new gloves, just spend $20 in essential components
at Dick Smith and a sports store (resistance wire, switch, fuse
holder, cricket bat handle cover) and make some heated handgrips.
It's a neat accessory, and affordable.

[1] Then I got a puncture in my rear tyre just as I reached Tarago.
16km back home (half of those on a dead-flat tyre), put the spare
wheel on, and only an hour late to work.

GoreTex outer shell expedition mittens. They have a rubberised palm,
thumb and fingers, and you can take them cross-country ski touring on
weekends. Buy the extra large to fit over your gloves.

My winter Spidi gloves were great -warm and dry - but then I crashed them.
I never had a leak in them, either.

<spelling pedant mode again> When I were lad it were spelt 'smidgin'

There are those mitten type things you see courier riders wearing.

They are permanently attached to your handlebars and you slip your hands in
them. Wearing gloves would make this combo very warm I'd expect.

Your not supposed to have a leak in your gloves Conehead, or is this some
    Tasmanian ritual?
