That rag seems to get more than its fair share of Media Watch's

If you check out the AC Nielson website, it will show the latest radio
ratings. 3AW is winning a lot of the time slots. Neil Mitchell's program
    alone,

3AW rating 15.7 in all age groups. The next was 3MMM at 10.7.

Mitchell's show rated the highest at 15.9 followed by Gold 104, 3MMM,
then the ABC local radio 3LO.

Granted, it means that of the total listening audience, 15% listen to
3AW while the remaining 85% listen to other stations.

The results can be found here:

Well, it's a News Limited paper, so it runs Rupert the Yank's pro-Liberal
    line regardless.

It has "journalists" who are functioning illiterates, "sub-editors" who are
English-as-a-second-language failures, and an "editor" who sounds like a
distillation of everything that smells worst about talk-back radio.

    Those are the highlights.

In another forum board a post to (a music industry one) a lot of the
young-ish (20s) folks there are sick of the young (teen) kids coming
online and not having any concern for spelling or grammar. They aren't
concerned about the occasional typo but they really get stuck into the
kids fOr SpelLIng LiKE ThiS and using SMS type abbreviations.

They've formed the "Learn to Spell, Fuckers" Army with little banners
in the sig files and harrass the kids til they spell within reason or
    leave.

One clever wit came with a variation of the banner that has "Learn to
    ****, Spellers" which I loved :)

The Melbourne equivalent of Laws or Jones, except that down here, the opinions
of people of that ilk have the political persuasiveness of a warm beetroot
    salad.

  14. Fixed spelling may not last long.

We could be more tolerant here. Couldn't we?

    Maybe not.

  15. LOL! I love it too.

I don't think spelling witch hunts achieve anything except a dubious
conformity. On the other hand, some semblence of conformity is necessary
for clarity and ease of reading.

I used to be a spelling fundamentalist with lots of judgement about poor
spelling until I started meeting people online who were clearly
intelligent and thoughtful even though though spelling challenged.

"So far Howard's luck has survived a great deal: his move to dismiss
broken election pledges by distinguishing between "core" and "non-core"
promises; his retrospectively time-limited "never ever" pledge on the
goods and services tax; his vagueness about when he committed Australia
to war against Iraq; his shifting standards for ministerial conduct; his
demonising of asylum seekers as child killers; his tendency to blame
"advice" rather than to openly accept responsibility when things go wrong."
Will Howard's luck survive another election ? Do Australians not care
that their PM is a liar ?
