Never win another race

There's a phrase that I heard from one of the MotoGP commentators that
    stuck in my head.

"Lots of riders win everything all the way to 500/MotoGP and then never
    win anything again."

The top class has been so competitive for so long, that you can be a
very, very good rider and never have that perfect day when everything
comes together and you stand on the top step.

So which riders on the grid on Sunday will never win a(nother) GP? Which
ones will never win another race?

  2. As I look at the grid for this weekend's GP I think that riders fall into 3
    categories.

    1) Sucessful in the past and likely to be so in future GP's
    2) Sucessful in the past and not likely to be so in future GP's
    3) Unknown or difficult to categorise (at least to me)

Julian's question seems to be asking which riders fall into my second
category. The 3 standouts for me are Melandri, Checa and Abe. Curiously,
they are all on Yamaha's and as I write this Rossi has set the fastest time
in the first free practice upon a Yamaha. To me these guys have reached
thier prime an now are just making up the numbers. Until recently, I would
have included KRJr in category 2, but he has surprised me in recent testing
    and in free practice 1.

    Time will tell
