It doesn't explicitly. What it does say is that in providing a
service you must provide it to everyone without discrimination.

So for websites you have to cater to people who cannot use a mouse,
cannot see the screen, cannot use a keyboard, all sorts.

Autotrader isn't just for buying cars though is it, & who's to say
blind granny doesn't want to buy a car for her soon-to-be 17 years old
    grandchild.

What if someone who's had both arms amputated? They aren't going to
    be using a mouse.

Would you want your blind nan to choose you a car? I think not.

    BTDTGTTS.

Good fun trying to make content done in Flash or Silverlight (or
    whatever) accessible.

Let's see someone try to do a YouTube for the blind...

I've seen *many* cars on the road that must have been bought by the
    driver's blind nan.

I think the key point is they have to work with the technology
available to mongs, not have direct mong interfaces. So voice control &
screen-readers are the main things that apply to websites, & if you can
fully navigate using a keyboard, chances are you're safe.

As far as I can tell, the new Autotrader dropdown listboxes can't be
operated with a keyboard, whereas the old ones could.

    **** yeah.

    Recent client...

"We want AAA accessibility please. Oh, and we'd like the whole front
end done in Web 2.0 AJAX. And it's going on a netbook accessed over a
    3G connection"

    Me...

"Er, you want two sites then? One fully featured and one accessible?"

    Recent client...

"No, one will do fine. 15 days ok?"

    That was a fun engagement.

    Exactly that.
Actually, in fairness to Autotrader, it may be that if you access the
site using a screen reader or similar browser, you may get a different
site without the Web 2.0 bollocks. We're seeing the wanky one because
    we're using fully featured browsers.

So did it result in just one site that met the functional requirements
    yet achieved AAA accessibility rating?
