    Hi
Due to a change in job, I will now have to commute ~80 miles a day.

Presently have Suzuki SV650S K3 but feel 20,000 miles a year will take it's
    toll.

    Obvious candidates are BMW R850R / R1150R.

Anyone out there with some advice? Major considerations to servicing, tyre
wear , petrol consumption. Another wacky idea is a Honda Hornet 900.

Are you really working 52 weeks a year?

Servicing - get a bike with longer intervals - BMW fits that. Not sure about
    servicing costs.

Can you get a car? :)

How old is the SV650? The depreciation on the R850R will hit you anyway.

For that sort of journey I'd suggest a shite old bike of some sort as
    the obvious way going forwards.

    he'd be better buying something like a 3 or 4 year-old Divvie 900, and
learning to service it himself - even running it into the ground over
2 years would be less of a hit financially than buying a new BMW and
    taking the depreciation hit.

My 900F is 11 years old and on 64k, still going strong.
