Chopped in my ViragoXV1100 for a Kawasaki VN1500 today.
When I tried it out (straight from the workshop) the clutch did not
work. The manager says, "Get it warm first, front brake on full, slam it
into first and eventually the clutch (which is dry because the bike has
been stood on its side stand for a couple of weeks) will clunk in and
    work".
In fact this did work and the bike drives like a dream.
"This," it was stated, "is a common problem with this bike."

Anyone else had this problem, heard of this problem or believe it to be
a genuine explanation of the 'no clutch' at time of trial run?

BTW this is the first time I have bought from a dealer. All in all a
    good experience.

Happens to my FJ sometimes. Clutch plates stick together.

Yeah, mine used to be clutchless after being stored for the winter.

The VN1500's a nice bike (though not the kind of thing appreciated by
    the crotch-rocketeers in this group).

  5. You've been conned. A cliutch that doesn't work after the bike has been
    parked for two weeks? Bollocks.

    No, no, you misunderstand.

It's a VN1500. In a misguided attempt to make it more like a
Hardly-Ableson, Kawasaki fitted several stupid design flaws.

    "They all do that, sir".

  7. I know of one, to which the 'standing a while between runs' bit is a
description which matches, in fact I have ridden it myself and have not
heard of or heard related by its owner that such a problem exists and I
recall no mention of it on ukrm when others have finally come out
either. You should be having words with your dealer I reckon about his
honesty chip malfunctioning. 'Course it really does go without saying
that it would have been best to ask around first to see if anybody had
ever heard of any problems like the 90mile tank range and shit but as it
wasn't said and you never thought to ask then the inevitable has
    happened.

Fucking shit round corners they are, I was grounding the fucker in
ordinary traffic on roundabouts and that should never happen, snot safe.

    about.

  15. Ah - I don't do gossip... much!

I happened across it once, turning the tellybox on late one night after
work. I watched it for nearly a whole minute; it was the most boring
    thing I could ever imagine.

  16. Hardly - I posted that it was a load of old crap and Mssrs Wesson and
Fitzgerald have also denounced the pile of C4 hype. Only leave BGN to
own up om BB unless we've departures from the closet that I haven't
    noticed.

  17. I don't think they have left yet but I do wonder if BB fans aren't at
least standing a touch closer to the door than the rest of us huddled
fearfully in the corner with our backs firmly against the wall.
