im after a new bike - I have tested a few Honda's firestorm, vfr, etc when I
was on the goldcoast. how ever since I live in the middle of nowhere there
is no information available on new bikes, nor test rides

wondering if anyone cares to share there opinion on the suzi bandit 1200s
and the gsx750f, well priced bikes by the look of them, and I require
something to ride everyday to work (in the country nsw, Griffith) as well as
2 up touring. id also like reliability

ill also be buying some givi 3 piece luggage for em as well..
some other models I like such as the blackbird but I fear jumping from a 250
even tho ive been riding for a number of years to something too big for
    me...

    cheers

  2. I have owned a 93 GSX750F and a 96 Bandit 1200, don't have either now...
both were reliable, comfortable and easy to own. Both are good bikes within
their design limits, they are not full on sportsters... keep that in mind
and you'll have fun with either.

The Bandit has _lots_ more torque *grin*

Yeah true, the F should be noticeably cheaper on tyres and chains - there's
about 50hp difference and probably a few Kgs as well.
Stunt riders love 'em - next best thing to an R1 for a wheelie machine :)

Ya reckon ? That's less than half the price of a Corbin ! I'd have just gone a
sheepie except this way I get a much better seat and I can always put the dead
    kiwi lover on after.

I live on another planet where everything is cheap.. On my planet a
    new Genuine seat is $450.
**** that! Only somethin to fart on, sheepskin, and sew some foam to
the front of it to change shape of seat for around $40.
Hey as long as your happy!

For cheap as chips to own and run, try a CT-110 postie bike!
Says he who is upgrading as soon as he has the $$$.

Thanks for the feed back guys...

I figured the 12 may be better because me or my misses arn't small little
    ppl... + I want something a bit sporty, anything's a bit better than a 250
right, and besides, no corners around here :-(

id love to go and test them, but like I said middle of nowhere, I think I
may take a trip to Melbourne to buy me self a bike, nearest capital city
apparently a bit closer than Canberra...

these bikes are fairly cheep, under 12k, which is a bit better than the
Honda's for the price, with firestorm at 16, vfr 18...

are they fairly reliable bikes too I guess...

ah well, ill do a search of the newsgroup..

    thanks for your help

  10. What? Did you nut yourself on a Bandit tank, or something?

  11. The suspension on both is on the soft end of the scale. If you and the SO
are both hefty you might want to budget for a spring for the rear end (about
$150), the shock can be usably rebuilt.. but mostly the spring is a bit soft
for 2 and luggage. Solo is fine.
Much better 2 up than a 250. The bandit 12 would be my pick if you intend
to do lots of 2 up, but either will do the job.

And this would be relevant to the cost of an aftermarket more comfortable seat
HOW exactly ? Aside from which I've got a genuine seat already, why do I want
    another ?
Geez that'll look great then won't it ?
can always put the dead kiwi lover on after.
    Uhuh.

Soft veering towards soggy suspension. I doubt she'll complain, but you'll not
be expecting to pretend you're Rossi when you do find some corners.
