Just taken delivery of the new Nissan Almera Tino 1.8SE.

Haven't cars got boring over the years?

They've ribbed out all of the knobs and replaced them with common
interface buttons. So to the radio station down one needs to press
the radio button, then make a selection of a new station. To fanny
with the climate control, press that button then make a new selection.

Knobs are GREAT and I think they should all be brought back as one can
do such a wide variety of things without having to stare at some
colour TFT and wait for it to ask you want to do next.

Well, cars are geat for cramming bikes into the back of, and also
getting other large bike related things moved around.
Oh, so if the knob thingy goes, it takes all your controls out.. that's
    good.
Heh.. the last 'car' I had was an Air portable Land rover, so I can't
    comment. :)

I don't think I could fit a bike in it in one piece.
The TFT displays everything too, even things like the clock and radio
station etc. So if that died the just about everything would be
    useless.

Nice reversing camera though. I've never used one before, but I just
reverse-bay-parked as normal, and I only looked at the screen to see
how far I was away from the wall behind. Quite handy. I bet some
people rely on them though for everything.

May also be better than nothing if one has a back/neck injury.

One hopes so, this one has 50 miles on the clock so it's probably new.

Still may be useful for transporting other bike related products though.
Quite... and I wonder how long it'll last for.
As well as watching the world from a big window, you can watch it from a
little window too. Does it come with digital dolby too. ;)
    This is a good thing.

  9. Wait until yours starts cycling through the options as you turn the
steering wheel (assuming yours has the same column-mounted controls as
    mine).

Most of the new ones are just re-bodied Renaults.

    Forever, hopefully.
That would be quite nice - I don't think I've found an option to have
the camera on all of the time, only when reversing. I suppose I could
look at the manual, it would also help me look at how I can help bed
    in the engine.

Re: Dolby Digital - I'm going to have to have a look around for the
bass option in the menus, it just doesn't sound good.

The cunting thing in my Seat started throwing wobblies after 4.5 years.

The radio on/off switch is not a power switch but a logic switch. The
fucking computer doodah decides to turn the radio back on at random.
Even with the ignition off. I haven't got around to fitting a proper
power switch yet. I just remove the relevant fuse.

    I like knobs too.

    NOS, innit.

Speakers, like engines bed in, although if they're really crap... it
    won't get much better.
