New Gorillaz release.

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by stephen.packer, Mar 8, 2010.

  1. New Gorillaz album is v.good. Am particularly taken by the Mark.E.Smith
    and Lou Reed vocals.

With a little luck the new Goldfrapp may also be as good... but I fear
    this isn't likely.

    Gorillaz? Goldfrapp?

    Modern???

Peaches' "I Feel Cream" is pretty good, if you want some pop music.

ITYF in this case, "modern" == "artists that didn't actually exist in
    the 70s".

  5. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique,
    typed
    Their third album was crap.

I like the vid with Bruce Willis in it - saw that at the weekend,
    catchy little ditty as well.

    #Well Mark E Smith, it's your turn now/
#to roll the dice and win/
    #The tables turned, now we're The Fall/
    #The North will rise again!

0.5 a kudos point for naming the band without googling it.

I only got notification from Amazon yesterday that it was being released
today. Not quite an early warning.

How do you think it compares to their other 2 albums? I see a whole load
of featured artists, so assume that they've gone in another direction
again. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing.

  14. First two are favourites for running background music. Don't think this
one is going to make it there.

It's 'interesting', I've only listened to it once and found it very
engaging. Certainly lots of featured artists but I think they worked
with others in the past, just not as much as this time.

Am completely staggered at the imagination involved to build the back
story behind the characters, the art work developed and all of the rest
of it. Maybe I'm just a bit simple and boring.

I enjoy Demon Days more than Gorillaz. Sounds like the new one is
    different again.
Heh, sure it's clever and stuff, but when I'm listening to the music, it's
completely irrelevant. As long as the messing around with holograms
doesn't mess with the music creation, I don't care.
