I had a fog city and had problems seeing at night due to light flare.
I'm wearing a Bell now and it's okay.

Thanks for the offer though and are you going to rent a bike this time
    around?

I still do. I don't give a shit; if they were that bad I'd say so.
They do represent value for money; an awful lot of people are on a
tight budget, and can't afford big names - there's no justification
for buying shite, however. Nitro helmets have been tested by Paul
Varnsverry, who has a trusted reputation on UKRM; if he thought they
were shite he'd be the first to say so. The factory testing regime is
as tough as any I've heard of.

    A double-D ring is, generally, the same across most brands I've seen;
some people just can't get the hang of them. It's not the most
complicated mechanism ever created - what does that say?

It's not a major selling point (though it should be), but Nitro
helmets do have a policy of continuous development. There are some
new designs for 2007 on the way, I would say imminent, which really do
represent a quantum leap in terms of design quality. If "quantum
leap" means "add another zero", then that won't be the case in price
terms. I have no doubt all helmet manufacturers have the same ideals
    in mind.

Loz? I know you're off to greener pastures, but keep your eyes open -
I think you'll be surprised. As to other matters of which you are no
doubt aware, only time will tell...

Odd, of all the complaints I have against my Caberg, the finish isn't
    one of them.

Flimsy and the interior lining material is sub-standard. Visor mechs are
shite too, and break regularly on the full face helmets.

Actually yes. My Caberg has arrived in my life at a time when my bike
mileage is low and it does show signs of wear that I wouldn't expect for
    so few logged hours.

They're the only strap retention system approved by the FIM for
international road racing and circuit racing. Seat belt types are not
    allowed.

That flimsy strap was good enough to pass BS when it was applicable, and
is good enough for the FIM. If that's the case then it's good enough for
    me.

Bit fucking heavy I'd have thought, and uncomfortable with a clapper

Get a Davida. Excellent build quality, light and well ventilated.
Although it's DD they're really easy as it has a little tag which means I
can do it with gloves on.

Totally agree. I've had a few cheap lids over the years, suomy and
Vemar, and the one Arai. Which is now 5 1/2 years old and probably due
replacement, but it's still nicer than either of the lids it replaced.

Anyone know what the equivalent of an Arai Quantum F is these days?

The Astro, afaik. I'll be looking at the Viper, Astro and RX-7 for my
    next lid.

Mitch Arai wears an Astro. When asked why he doesn't wear his company's
top of the range RX7 Corsair he says "The Corsair is a racing helmet,
the Astro is a road helmet. I don't race, so I wear an Astro on the
    road"

That would be my only criticism of my Shoeis (on my third now), but I
can live with that. Not that I can compare it with many makes although I
have tried Cromwell, AGV, and FM. Latest acquisition for use on he WR250
only is a really pikey chinese made KBC mx style helmet.

    Poor form, but forget it.

I've just seen your racist rant in another thread and quite frankly,
giving you any of my money would make me feel slightly sick.

It's not that I dislike mild asphyxiation, quite the reverse, but
there's a time and place, and 110mph down the A11 is not one of them.
