Just got a new Arai. SC Cycle had the Quantum IIs (non-graphics) on
sale for $339 this week. I've only had it on for one ride thus far,
but I will say that in 20 years of riding, it is my new favorite
helmet. My last two lids were HJCs (Before that Shoeis and a cheap
brand or two). I guess they meet Snell req's, but you get what you pay
for all around. Both were noisy, and let so much wind around my eyes
that they were constantly watering (and I usually have eye allergies
anyway, and it is annoying). Anyway, the Arai seems every bit worth
the price (don't know about the retail price, though, on the web page
of >$500... for the equivalent price of two helmets, foe example, I
bought an Interstate 12 ga. pump, a Beretta NEOS, and a Kel-tec SU-16
assault weapon that is not an assault weapon yet in the state of
Kali'). Arai obviously put a lot of engineering into it. I get the
impression that Arai is taking a huge market share these days, true?
More people seem to be going Arai?

SC Cycle is Santa Cruz Cycle?

Been starting to look as my 1999 Quantum is in okay shape, but after 5
years of near daily use, perhaps it should become a passenger helmet.

  4. On the theory that a passenger's head is unworthy of the same
    protection as yours? ;-)
