I thought this got a mention back here a while back.

 

Worryingly there seem to be 2008 shots available - are there marksmen
along the course to pick off the stragglers?

 

What do they use? Telegraph poles?
Was it a caber that got Champ?

I know a telegraph pole in Jurby with more nous than you, and it can
stand up straight

 

Not that straight, actually. Took a photo of it last week.

 

You bent a telegraph pole and survived? You really are lucky to be

He was had by a bent pole.

 

heh. F maintains that the pole is bent, and I did it. I cast my eye
round the rest of the windsweept landscape (the road circuit is damn
near the sea) and noted that pretty much every other telegraph pole
was at some slight angle from the vertical, but she's not having any
of it.
