Need a new jacket and preferably jeans asap and the HG stuff still seems
well regarded (even if they insist on calling their jeans, "pants"), though
asking for a "Tricky" jacket is going to make me wince...

Has anyone any experience of these, and given that the nearest HG outlet is
in feckin Maidstone, anything else at a similar price (£200 jacket, £180
jeans) that might be more generally available and is good quality. Not
interested in power ranger stuff, just good quality everyday commuting
    stuff.

    and yes i do know:

    1/ they do mail order
2/ I'm a lazy git and Maidstone is just a ride up the road from Eastbourne
3/ I'm an impatient sod and do i really need it before next weekend...(yes)

    Cheers,

    Jon H.

Jon Harris was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
If you're referring to the 'PSX-Tricky' jacket then I've had that
since it first came out (I think) three years ago. Mine appearantly
was one of the first ones sold in the UK.

I like it - it's still waterproof, comfortable to wear and warm enough
to wear in winter with the liner in, yet cool enough to be worn in
    summer without the liner.

Even survived the recent Timo/road interface without any visible
    marks.

All in all I think you could do a lot worse textile-jacket wise.

Having looked through the catalogue again it sound different to yours. The
HG Tricky jacket is described as "Heavy Duty 1.2-1.4mm cowhide" blah blah
blah. Strip away the marketing BS and it's hard to see what the difference
is between the different styles of leather, let alone the various for and
    againsts of the fabric/leather combinations.

I think the best thing to do is go for a trundle and see what fits well and
    suits (sic) my budget.
Impressive stuff. I hope you and the Pan are on the mend now. Your luck
really does have to change soon!

    Cheers,

I've got the two piece Tribal race leathers and they're pretty good, I wear
'em all year round with waterproofs in winter if needed (they're not too
over heating). Good ventilation in the summer and a good fit. Paul's got
the more sensible commuter gear cordura jacket & jeans and they're both
endured heavy wear and a crash (the jacket needs replacing due to a tear in
the arm - no damage to rider, and the jeans are just a bit scuffed).

The lobster gloves have also served well through a couple of winters now and
at around 35ukp are almost disposable!

I'd have to say they're pretty good and worth a trip.

Thanks for that Jen. I went up there today and tried just about every
combination before coming full circle and going for the straight black
Tricky jacket. It's weird in as much as part of the inner part of the arm is
not leather, but i guess it's pretty near impossible to land on the inner
    part of your arm...

The matching jeans were a bit tight went bent over, and of course the next
size up was OOS, so it's another trip up there at the weekend to get those.

Staff were quite standoffish (almost to the point of indifference) but when
pushed were OK (if that makes any sense whatsoever)

Only when i compare old and new jacket do you realise quite how knackered it
was, but after (counts fingers) 11 years i reckon I've had my moneys
    worth...:)

    Cheers,

    JH
