Not yet. Well a KTM race bike but that's just for competition only.

But Harpers is 5 minutes away even if I run it.
Is there that much of a quality difference, as there is a lot of price
    difference.

Lozzo was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Indeed. Walking into the shop with you two in there is murder for the
    wallet...
We got some of the stuff for Ann there and when it's time to retire
the HG jacket I bought off you, I'll go back. And I'm now a bit
    further away than Linger, too.

I can either go into a shop and buy some more "good enough" shit from
a faceless chain or go buy something that's *exactly right* for my
needs from a small shop that has an owner who cares about what he
sells. Choice for me is clear.

And no, I'm not on the payroll there. Although everytime I go there I
get the impression that they're on *my* payroll, given the amount of
dosh I seem to leave behind.

If you compare stuff like A/stars or Dainese to MJK then the MJKs are
much better value for money. It all depends on how much you value your
skin. There's a lot of shit out there at vastly inflated prices,
'fashion leathers' I call them. Trouble is, it's difficult to know what
ones are good and what aren't. With MJK you get a known quantity,
hundreds of club racers can't be wrong.

MJK have made suits for some big names like James Toseland, Michael
Rutter, Ian Lougher, Reuben Xaus and some bloke called Neal Champion.
There are photos in Graham's album to prove it, and he also has a suit
his son crashed in 6 times so you can see how well they stand up to the
    ultimate test.

OK, I'll accept they are the best. I am not a racer, I will only do two or
    three
    track days a year.
I know it's my skin but its also my wallet. They are very expensive.

There must be a viable alternative.

Yeah but part of my original post was a consideration for cost.
I know the problems with both astars and Dainese so I didn't consider them.
I wanted something that looks modest and offers good protection.
MJK are too expensive, is there anything else?

    What price safety?
There are alternatives. It's like comparing a Mercedes to a lesser
    brand.

Plain MJK leathers are not expensive. A M2M suit is less than 700 quid.

    I can't afford a Mercedes, so I don't look at them.
I drive a shite old Rover 216 because its cheap to run and
is excellent value as it's has a good quality motor (Honda).

If it was like £400 less that would be fine.
We obviously have different perceptions of expensive.

I have considered all of these points. However If I had spent loads of money
on leathers, I would need some more
because of weight loss. I still intend to loose more weight so I might even
consider holding on for a bit.
I just wanted as many good names as possible so when I go browsing in the
local shops, I knew what I was looking for.
Good for me,as a mate is in the trade (but sells the very cheap end) he
    stocks Nitro.
    Has STFU replaced SYFF?
I know you have my best intentions at heart.

Yeah, I think John is trying to re-populate the schools for me.
In your opinion, do they stock anything for me. They are good friends
so I feel a bit shit not buying from them but I am tempted by the sale in
    Harpers.
John is a bit of a good salesman and a mate so it can be hard to get fussy
especially as I know his current situation.

TBH, I'll probably end up there but I get confused by all the new brands.

All I can suggest is popping in to try stuff on. I can get our leathers
sent down in your size if you like.
