New motorcycle engine

  1. Modify an engine by replacing the spark plug with a dual injector for
    each cylinder. When the piston is TDC, inject bleach and ammonia at the
    same time. There will be rapid expansion of gas pushing the piston down.
    Then the mess is blown out the exhaust pipe and then new fresh air is
    brought into the intake to repeat the process. Nothing but chloramine
    gas out the tail pipe, a disinfectant in municipal water systems.

    Would it be feasible to use an excess of ammonia and run the resultant
    hydrazine over a catalyst in the exhaust, to provide additional thrust?

    I took that as "fresh charge", unless it is an attempt to moderate the
    explosion by diluting the ingredients.

  7. I'm sure the same could be said of gasoline, especially in the age of
    electrics before gasoline.
    With pure chlorine and purified ammonia descent mileage and power could
    be attained. Instead of smelling like French fries it would smell like a
    washing machine.

    Both of these substances are gasses, and both are rather corrosive. How
    exactly is this approach better, or even as feasible as, running
    Hydrogen, which also returns water as a product?

    Trivial at an industrial gas company; Try seriously engaging the issues
    involved instead of being flip, or stop expecting us to take you
    seriously.

    On the chance that you are serious, rather than simply trolling, how
    about posting theoretical energy yields from your reaction? Cost per
    unit mass? How about comparing those to gasoline and Hydrogen? Next
    consider that your reactants are substantially diluted if you're using
    household chlorine bleach and ammonia solution. So, your cost per unit
    of _reaction_ mass is substantially different from your cost per unit of
    _carried mass, and your energy yield per unit of fuel mass is
    substantially reduced (because most of your "fuel" is actually water).
    You will also lose much of your reaction energy to conversion of water
    to vapor, unless you find a way of recovering that energy.

    copper screen or potassium permanganate catalyst.

    Inject 98% pure hydrogen peroxide into the combustion chamber.

    The copper screen or the catalyst will cause the H2O2 to break down
    into steam and oxygen.

    The pistons will go up and down and the crankshaft will go around and
    around, and the exhaust will be eminently breathable.

    What could be better for the environment, besides you bathing in the
    H2O2?

  12. Nah, run the engine on silicone oils -- instead of water and carbon
    dioxide you'd get water and SiO2. If you can arrange the silica to spray out
    of the "exhaust" as random molten droplets you'd have self-surfacing roads!

    Are there available radio-isotopes of these, so that the self-surfaced
    road would not only glow in the dark but produce enough heat to keep the
    surface ice-free in the most wintery weather?

  14. Hmm, 16-, 17-, and 18-O are stable. 15-O is the most stable
    radio-isotope, but it's a bit too hot at only two minutes! 32-Si has a
    half-life of 132 years, so that's a candidate.
