I'm considering one of these as my next bike in a year or so, and also
    the new Tiger 800

I like the look of the new Tiger - there's a brief test ride video on the
MCN site. Any idea of pricing yet?

You could have seen it on any BMW site ages before Triumph released
any details. Not that Triumph would copy a BMW, oh no.

I've got no problem with Triumph 'copying' a BMW. The modern history of
motorcycling is littered with examples of manufacturers creating new market
niche bikes and then others jumping on the bandwagon.

I've had a good look at the baby Tiger and though it'll be a competent
bike I think it'll mainly be bought by people that want an R1200GS but
can't touch the floor on them.

Why do they need to copy BMW when they've already built the Tiger range
since god knows when. At least they've stuck true to their recent form
and employed a triple engine, the rest is just generic adventure bike
    stuff.

I forgot about Triumphs recall free track record.

That not only looks like an F800GS but is near enough identical in
size when you put a pic of one over the other.

Hey, it's a winning formula so Triumph did the right thing by latching
    onto it.

Having had an F800GS, it fucking rocked, handled a dream, but **** me was it

That surprised me too. I sat on one in Austria in the Weisseespitze Hotel
in the Kaunertal (sister hotel to the Enzian we used last year, both have
BMW hire bikes). I got on no problem. Getting off, as it had the panniers
fitted was a little comical, hopping sideways with my right leg stuck out
straigh across the saddle. I ditched the idea of hiring the bike for a day
    in the Alps.

I'd want to borrow one for a month or so before I went out and bought
    one.

My Tenere is pretty tall and if I've got panniers fitted plus anything
strapped on the pillion seat it becomes a bit of a circus act to get
    on and off.

I keep toying with the idea of lowering it for the winter but then
decide it's not worth the hassle.
