I'm google-groups-institutionalised now.
Nice to know though.
I'm probably going to regret this but... I use Pan newsreader http://pan.rebelbase.com/ in linux but before you start flaming there is a Windows version. You need to install the gtk+ libraries for Windows too. Please note that I haven't tried it in its Windows incarnation but under Gnome it rocks. One very useful feature is to ignore on the basis of cross-post count which cuts out a lot of the trolls and spam. The best thing of all is that it is open-source and completely free. Agent users should find the interface familiar. Hope this helps.
Has that seen any recent development? <checks site> Indeed, latest beta from 2007, so something's actually happening. There are several other good readers out there in Open Sauce land that fulfill this requirement. Not sure about their Windows availability, though. I know that the one I'm writing this in is available on pretty much every OS known to man, and it is Open Source as well.
Yes, the various linux distros are including it in their repositories and tweaking it to suit AAUI. Not sure which version mint is currently supplying as I'm in windows now trying out the one I posted a link to. gtk + seems to be included in the installer, a I haven't had to get them separately. Haven't tried adding aspell yet though. yebbut emacs is scary!
Well, it's the "various distributions tweaked it" bit that I'm developing a dislike for at the moment. I've got to port some anti-spam config from one server to another and thanks to Debian's wonderful idea of splitting the config file eight ways, I actually have to go and edit the fuckers instead of just copying the file across. Fucking annoyed, I am. Unfortunately one issue with Unix-on-Windows that you tend to get is getting the nice little stuff like background spelling running properly. Only if you're afraid of the Dark Side. At least I've got working background spell checks with aspell (but I'm not on Windows...)
That's what I was on about. Everything is pink or nothing. I downloaded the source code with a mind to fix it, but the sight of pascal code makes me want to be sick. -- -- Paul.
