Ah ha, this makes sense. I am not known for being sensible but even I
did a stint on a CG125 (I'm a lapsed push rods convert) before getting
a 33bhp restricted ZXR. Of course the restrictor fell out long before
    the 2 years was up.
Daddy should stop being soft and get her to sort her own mess out.
No, you don't understand. I chose the ZXR because I could fit on it
and the first one (which is tucked away in the back of the garage
because one day it will be rebuilt) had already been prediastered by
    Mrs Grainger.

When I were a lad, bikes didn't have expensive plastics at all.

presumably that's whilst you're sat on it.

    Quite.

And since I've been riding bikes with expensive plastics, I've never
    dropped any of them.[1]

    QED.

    heh.

    <ogden>
It can't be dropped when it's sat in the garage.
    </ogden>

And I've just recently SORNd it for the winter anyway.

I'm sure it's possible to reverse a Sqashquai into it.

You are forgetting the "Dustbin" fairings as loved by Notrun fanatics
in the 60s. OTOH, fairings were not standard fitment so yes.

Surprisingly, most of the proper UK spec ones are in excellent
condition or were built into race bikes. I have seen three absolutely
immaculate green/white ones sold in the past 6 month in this town
alone, and I know there are more like them out there. The UK spec ones
tend to be bought by women who can't ride for shit and are scared of
dropping them, so they spend most of their lives sitting under covers
in the back of garages until hubby sells it.

I'm sure it is, but it should be safe - only P's Micra will be garaged
and if she manages to hit the bike, I'll have a lot more to worry
about. Like the fact the garage will be falling down.

Makes me wonder how much of her decision to quit biking was due to
    your 'encouragement' and 'advice'

puff. Even I, having just sold the KTM, am now trying to get the 12R
running[1], unSORNed, MOTed, taxed etc. so I have something to ride.

[1] it needs a new battery; the combination of alarm/immobiliser and
lazy twat owner has killed it.

None, she moved on from the biker boyfriend, bought a flat, and
became a skint homeowner with a mortgage.

    Par for the course.

True, but daddy's girl has had him wrapped around her little finger
since she was a few hours old. One smile and resistance is futile.
Yes I know, daddy is really just a big softy who needs to grow
    a backbone.........

    Good point. I can't read a map.

Not especially challenging for you, not so easy with minimal steering
    lock.

Was that the current model Divvy (2009 onwards)? I tried a couple of old
Divvy 600's last year before settling on the CB but thought them very
heavy and felt like I would be juggling jelly... didn't like them at all,
the only reason I tested a second one was in case the first was a pup...
it was but they both felt horrible to me.

One thing that I find I do more and more is to use my thigh to lift the
bike off the side stand rather than haul on the bars.
I'm a 29-30inch inside leg, getting on the Versys was interesting having
never had to jump over a bike in my life before :) Great when you're in
the saddle but getting there and keeping it upright when stationary
    looked too tricky to me.
Good luck in your search but it looks like you've settled on the zzr600
(from reading down the thread). I might get shot for this next one but
did you ever consider a Gladius? Basically a low slung SV650 with
questionable styling, the seat height seems lower than my CB to me.
